And that was the fulfillment of our dreams. MAGTAGUMPAY is MARAGONDON and MARAGONDON is MAGTAGUMPAY – a name always aiming to win. With this, another History was made for this town.
HEART
MARAGONDON is TAGALOG word “MADAGUNDONG” or MAUGONG” meaning much sounds. Actually, the sound or noise came from the strong flow of water of KAY ALBARAN RIVER located in the Barrio of CAPANTAYAN, now a SITIO of BARANGAY BUCAL I of this MUNICIPALITY. This place was the first town site selected by the original town settlers. But because the said river frequently overflowed its bank and inundated the place, the town people transferred the town site to its present place, the POBLACIO. The word “MADAGUNDONG” not being pleasant to ears was changed to “MARIGUNDONG” in honor of the town’s PATRONESS, NUESTRA SEÑORA MARIA ASUNCION, or Our Lady of ASUMPTION.
