On May 212007, over coffee, Bro. Charlie Te shared with Bro. MERLINDO TINAPAY his lifelong dream to organize a Masonic Lodge and build a Masonic Temple for brethren residing or working in TORIL and nearby areas. Bro. TINAPAY agreed with him and both of them embarked on a journey to make this noble dream a reality. UMEROUS fraternal fellowship ensued and the brethren present in those gatherings expressed their support and commitment to make the dream a reality. Unanimous agreement was made to formally organize into a fellowship club with the goal of gradually transforming into a Masonic Lodge based in TORIL. The group then discussed the possibility of purchasing a lot intended for the proposed future TORIL Masonic Center. The name “MADAYAW” was adopted by the group as the name of the fellowship club. The group then decided that the meetings will be held every second Friday of every Month. Since the group is still building its financial stability the planned purchase of a lot was temporarily put on hold. To keep the positive momentum Bro. Charlie Te offered a portion of his property in TORIL as the temporary place for MADAYAW Lodge to reside. The brethren then embarked on Fund Raising Activities to Raised the needed funds to acquire land for the proposed TORIL Masonic Temple. Unexpectedly, misfortune struck Bro. Te as his mother become ill and he had to focus on attending to his ailing mother. No meetings and activities were held until in early February of 2011, VW William LOHH made a deafening clarion call to the brethren to revive this sublime undertaking. When Bro. Charlie Te knew of the reawakening of his dream for MADAYAW Lodge, he immediately informed Bro. TINAPAY that he has acquired a 485 square meter lot in TORIL and he intended to offer it for used of the proposed MADAYAW Lodge. Bro. TINAPAY immediately organized the brethren again and started to meet regularly. On December 5,2011 MADAYAW Lodge was finally constituted and on June 14,2013 the Grand Lodge, based on the recommendation of the Committee on Charters, granted MADAYAW Lodge a charter and assigned to it number 403. At present, MADAYAW Lodge No. 403 is the youngest lodge in Masonic District RXI – Davao City, Davao del Sur.

MADAYAW is a friendly greeting from the DABAWENYO word of “DAYAW” meaning good, valuable, superior, or beautiful. A popular festival of Davao City, KADAYAWAN derives its root word from MADAYAW or DAYAW, a festival, a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gift of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounty of harvest and a serenity of living. The letter “M” on top of the 3 pillars stands for the Lodge. The 3 pillars on which the “M” sits a Top Represents the 3 lights which holds up high   ”M” (the Lodge). The words “Concordia NOS CONJUGAT” means “Harmony Unites Us”. Yellow and Maroon are the dominant colors. The color “yellow” – is the color of the sun which represents life [and life is always evolving, changing]; the color “maroon” – represents intense or strong feeling, Taken together. The two colors Represents the members’ strong desire to be always dynamic, to be active. It is for this reason that for regular members to pass their proficiency exam, they must be able to deliver the lecture of the 3 degrees.
