HERITAGE
Brethren in the district decided to form a lodge to be named Diego SILANG, the famous historical figure who came from this province of La Union, Particularly, CABA, La Union. The Chartering of this new petition for a Lodge U D. reviewed the experience that they had in the past and they all together concluded that the timing is critical. In 2013, the petition was submitted. On 10 November 2013, the Dispensation was granted and on the 23rd of the same month, Diego SILANG U.D. was instituted. In the 2014 ANCOM, the Dispensation was extended and on the next ANCOM in 2015, Diego SILANG Lodge No. 417 WORKED AS A REGULAR Lodge. The birth of Diego SILANG Lodge 417 could not have been made possible without the relentless, untiring efforts, selfless dedication and determination of some of the Brethren in the persons of VW Fernando A. Albino, VW Ralph A. Asuncion, WB Cesar ANCHETA, VW Arturo FIGUEROA, VW Manny YDIA, and VW Ronald ALWIT who served as Officers of the Lodge Under Dispensation until its Constitution. The same recognition is also accorded to VW Ramon LAUDENCIA, VW HOUY TABANDA and VW Romulo Montoya, all members of this Lodge, who provided the favorable atmosphere for the Lodge to take its form during their successive terms as District Deputy Grand Masters from 2013 to 2015. And, to all members of the lodge and the brethren from other Lodges in the jurisdiction of the district who gave their utmost support and assistance most particularly in the labors of the Craft, DSL 417 is in indebted to them.
HERALDRY
DIEGO SILANG (December 16, 1730 – May 28, 1763) was a revolutionary leader who conspired with British forces to overthrow Spanish rule in the northern Philippines and establish as independent Ilocano nation. His revolt was fueled by grievances stemming from Spanish taxation and abuses, and by his belief in self-government, that the administration and leadership of the Roman Catholic Church and government in the ILOCOS be investigated in trained Ilocano officials. He met an ITNEG woman with a name of GABRIELA CARINO. He married Gabriela and raised a family in the ILOCOS Province.
