Dadiangas Lodge No. 225
The Name
Dadiangas is the old name of General Santos City. The name Dadiangas comes from a thorny shrub that used to abound in the sea.
The Lodge
The petition to organize this lodge was signed by thirty-nine (39) Master Masons coming from Indang Lodge No. 115, Mount Matutum Lodge No. 156 and Koronadal Lodge No. 209 with Mt. Matutum Lodge No 156 acting as the sponsoring lodge. Grand Master Desiderio Dalisay, Sr. gave them the requested dispensation on June 15, 1978 and during the 1979 ANCOM the Grand Lodge granted the lodge a charter and assigned number 225 to it. Grand Master Jolly R. Bugarin constituted it as a regular lodge in General Santos City on June 22,1979. On the same day the officers of the lodge were installed, namely; WB Nelson Q. Yu-Worshipful Master; Bro. Wilfredo Chavez- Senior Warden; and Bro. Celso Sta. Ana- Junior Warden.
Dadiangas Lodge No. 225 together with Mt. Matutum Lodge No 156 and the other lodges in the vicinity have since held the banner of Freemasonry steadily aloft in that part of the burgeoning fish center of the country.
