Santiago L. Chua Commemorative Lodge No, 336
This lodge was named after Santiago L. Chua who for years was the pillar of Masonry in the Leyte-Samar area. Initiated in October 1952, Chua served as Master of Makabugwas Lodge and was one of the principal organizers of Tacloban Lodge and East Gate Lodge.
On December 20, 2000 Grand Master Oscar V. Bunyi issued a dispensation to 29 Master Masons residing in or near Tacloban City authorizing them to congregate into a regular lodge to be known and designated as Santiago L. Chua Commemorative Lodge. MW Bunyi named WB Nicolas Risos, as the Dispensation Master; Bro. Charlie Ben as the Senior Warden and Benjamin Perez as the Junior Warden. On December 29, 2002 MW Bunyi enplaned for Tacloban City and instituted the lodge.
At the annual communication of the Grand Lodge held in April 2001, the lodge was granted a charter and on July 30, 2001 Grand Master Napoleon A. Soriano duly constituted it.
